That’s funny. A base ‘Vette Grand Sport is about the same price as a GT500, and pulls identical acceleration figures, but leaves the ‘Stang in the dust on the racetrack. A Z06 is at least 20k more than a GT500, and the performance reflects that. But since you’re talking about paying “twice as much”, I’m gonna assume you’re talking about the $105k+ ZR1. But to say ANY stock Mustang matches that kind of performance is just outright laughable. The GT500 is an awesome car, but it’s no Supercar.

Ford may not have gotten a bailout, but they would not be in as good a shape as they’re in without government assistance. And Chevy only has one sports car, the Corvette, and it was never “killed off”. And I wouldn’t talk about sales, since the Camaro is outselling the Mustang at the moment, and has been for a while now.
I’m assuming you mean the Corvettes when you said overpriced, but that’s hardly true. One of their main selling points is their price vs that of rival performance cars.

I think it’s a good comparison between this and some of the less technological equipped Porsches. But comparing this to a ZO6 is a bit stupid. obvioussly the Vette would be faster, but it’s not a car I could live with every day, in that it sits lower, has a lower roof, and I’d imagine is hard to see out of. I’m a Chevy fan, but Ford did a good thing here. I’d still take the Camaro SS though since I like having a sound system and back seats in my cars.

Not even close. The Standard mustang 5.0 equaled the M3 on the track. The Boss would rip it apart. The boss 302 ls would obliterate it. 20 grand more to get stomped no matter where you go whether it be the track or drag, no thanks.
